Tradescantia Bilberry ice, also known as spiderwort or spider lily, owing to its narrow, sword-like leaves, Tradescantia is a pretty, scrambling or trailing plant, bearing unusual three-petalled flowers. It self-seeds freely. Low-maintenance and tolerant of a range of soil types and aspects, it’s perfect for growing in hanging baskets and window boxes, but also for using as ground cover or to fill gaps in the border. Tradescantia ‘Bilberry Ice’ bears clusters of pretty purple flowers with bright yellow anthers, from summer to autumn.
For best results grow in moist but well-drained soil in a sheltered, sunny site. grows to heights of 1.5 feet with a spread of 1.5 feet. Cut back after flowering or allow to self seed.
